1. What are the types of postal items? What is the difference between them?

Answer:
There are domestic and international postal items. Type of an item depends on its content, weight and dimensions. You can get more information on postal items in the section Postal services or consult any post office.


2. What are weight and dimensions limits of postal items?

Answer:
Weight and dimension limits of domestic postal items and notes concerning it are stated in art. 19 of Rules of Postal Services.

Table of weight and dimensions limits of outgoing international postal items is in art. 25 of Rules of Postal Services.


3. How to write address correctly?

Answer:
A sender himself fills in the address of an addressee and addresser on postal items. Address shouldn’t contain abbreviate names and marks that don’t refer to the address.

Address components should be written n the following order:

  1. Name of addressee (for citizens-surname, name, patronymic )
  2. Name of the street, number of the house and flat
  3. Name of the settlement (town, village and other)
  4. Name of the district
  5. Name of the republic, territory, region, autonomous district(region)
  6. Name of the country (for international items)*
  7. Postal index

* Name of the country should be written in the language of country of destination and in Russian.

Address of an addressee must be written in the right bottom part of envelope, packet, postcard or any postal wrapper. Address of an addresser must be written in the left upper part of item wrapper.

4. Where can I get information on tariff rates for domestic and international postal items?

Answer:
Tariff rates are published in the section Postal services.


5. What are delivery standards for international and domestic items? How can I tracethe process?

Answer:
The system of tracing postal item on its ID number has been developed and it is widely implemented in post. It operates in 77 regions and covers 32 thousand post offices. This given system allows for tracing delivery of both domestic and international registered postal items. However the system has not been completely implemented yet.


6. What should I do in case of postal item delay and how can I find it?

Answer:
In case of delay or loss of domestic and postal item you can apply to postal office delivered the item or to post office where it has been directed to. In the latter case the addresser applies to post office. You can also apply to regional Administration of Postal Service.


7. What countries can I send cash-on delivery postal items?

Answer:
Cash-on delivery insured parcels can be sent to the following countries:

  • Azerbaijan,
  • Armenia,
  • Belorussia,
  • Georgia,
  • Kazakhstan,
  • Kyrgyzstan,
  • Latvia,
  • Moldova,
  • Tajikistan,
  • Ukraine.

8. Are there any prohibited imports and exports?

Answer:
We published general imports list and list of prohibited goods depending on particular country. It should be noted that each country sets it own restrictions on imports and exports.


9. What is CyberDengui? What countries can I make money orders to?

Answer:
«CyberDengui» is a new modern electronic system of money order in Russian Post’s list of services. You can get more information on this service in the section «Financial services».

Currently, people can make money orders within the territory of Russia and from/to the following countries:

  • Azerbaijan,
  • Armenia,
  • Belorussia,
  • Kazakhstan,
  • Kyrgyzstan,
  • Ukraine.

10. Where can I get information on custom clearance?

Answer:
If you have any questions concerning custom clearance, please apply to Custom Clearance Department at International Main Post Office in Moscow.

11. What is forwarding order of jewellery and antique items?

Answer:
Within the territory of Russia jewellery and antique items can be sent in insured parcels with list of contents.

According to the International Items Receipt Manual the following items are prohibited or allowed upon condition to be sent abroad, including CIS countries:

  • Gems, minerals, rocks, soil, paleontologi samples, semi-precious stones in a raw or polished state, amber.
    Such items, except for souvenir goods sold by retail, can be sent only by authority of the Russian Federation Committee on Geology and Use of Mineral Resources;
  • Precious metals in any state, natural precious stones in a raw and polished state, pearl and goods made of it;
  • Cultural values made 100 years ago (including postmarks and other philatelic materials, printing matters);
  • Creations of fine arts, applied and decorative art, musical instruments, printing matters, postal stamps and other philatelic materials, gramophone records and other mobile items made 50 yeas ago;
  • Modern souvenir articles, articles of cultural purpose, serial and mass production made less than 50 years ago.

12. What Rules control collection of registered correspondence from organizations? How many registered letters from several companies can be sent by a person?

Answer:
According to the Temporary Order of Collection of Covering Documents and Address for Bulk Mails approved by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of 19.07.2000 five or more such items sent by one sender to one or several addresses are defined as registered postal items.

Agreement between post office and sender regulates collection of bulk mails sent by one sender more than once per month.

Less than 5 registered items from one juridical person can be sent without f.103.

13. Form 112-э of electronic order stipulates place for telephone number of an addresser. Should post offices inform addresser of order receipt?

Answer:
Telephone informing of order receipt is not among postal service operator’s duties.

Processing electronic order is implemented according to the article 33 of Rules of Postal Services. It says that orders are delivered by address defined on them and given at post offices.
